Apprentice Carpenter

We are a small, family, Design / Build remodeling company looking to bring on a new apprentice carpenter. Most of our work is in Minneapolis and near west suburbs and typically consists of new second floors, additions, kitchen remodels, etc. We have been in business almost 20 years and all of our work is word-of-mouthwe don't advertise or market. All architecture and carpentry is done in house so that means you will get to learn a wide range of skills, including framing and structures, window and door setting, siding and exterior trim, and finish carpentry.

For the most part, I don't need you to have a lot of carpentry skills to start, but some basic familiarity with hand and power tools is a plus. I do need you to be dependable, hard working, and to take pride in doing things wellmy brother and I can train the rest. Are you curious? Are you willing to ask questions when you don't know something? Can you problem solve? Does it matter to you if you do a good job, even when someone isn't watching you? Are you an interesting person? While we would like to hire someone sooner rather than later, we don't really NEED a guy. I want to find the right guysomeone we enjoy working with, who gets "it", and who can tolerate our jobsite musical choices. (Which can range from Colter Wall and Zach Bryan to Depeche Mode to Def Leppard on any given day.)

The job isn't always funsomedays it's a lot of demo, hauling stuff to the dumpster, and setting up / taking down the jobsite. But somedays you will be cranking out cutlists, nailing off walls, helping to set / flash windows, or learning basic finish carpentry. The pay and expectations are fair, we have health benefits and PTO, and as a small company we can be pretty flexible with scheduling around your personal life. You need dependable transportation and need to be able to pass a background checkwe are often working in homes while clients are still living there, and my trusting you is an absolute requirement.

You don't need to know for sure that you want to be a carpenter for the rest of your life, you just have to be a solid person and worker, and be ready to learn and contribute for however long you're here. If this sounds like a good fit for you, we can start with a phone interview and then decide whether to meet in person.
