Functions in our group include safety, project field management, construction management, quality control, start up and decommissioning and field engineering. #LI-KC1Key ResponsibilitiesResponsible for the following tasks:Represent construction on all proposal activities
Determine DOR for proposed construction execution plans
Lead constructability reviews during the proposal stages
Review PV module layouts along with roads & access
Determine above ground and below ground AC & DC circuit routing
Determine best constructable solutions
Provide input into major equipment selections (i.e. racking, inverters, modules, posts)
Construction laydown, access, material management and office layouts
Lead construction input and review of all estimates
Voting member for construction in all solar cost review board meetings
Handing over budgets and execution plan to field execution team when projects are won
Incorporate lessons learned from executed projects
Manage a team of proposal and pre-construction staff
Estimating services are provided by a separate functional group. This role is expected to provide feedback to estimating on the unit rates, labor costs, indirect costs and review construction cost metrics.
Write construction execution plans which will be used as the basis for the estimate
Support site visits for pre-bid meetings
Identify and solicit proposals for subcontracted scopes of work
This role reports directly to the Vice President of Solar Construction Operations.Preferred QualificationsDirect hire Open-shop solar construction experience required. Proposal and Estimating experience within construction. Bachelor's degree in construction or engineering and solar experience preferred. Should have 3+ years of experience as Construction Manager level or above. Should have 8+ years with a degree or 18+ years without degree, Construction experience. Knowledge of project budget process and tools. Knowledge of department budget process and tools. Knowledge of Project controls. Risk assessment/management. Administrative policies and procedures. Construction Project Management Systems. Conceptual planning ability. Conflict management skills. Leadership ability (team building, coaching, mentoring, change management, advising). Multi-tasking ability (prioritize, organize, schedule work). Presentation skills. Problem solving skills (identify, analyze, research, evaluate, resolve). Project management skills. Communication and meeting skills. Time reporting systems. Expense reporting policies and procedures. Work up to a 12 hour shift doing hard physical labor in varying temperature extremes and other outside conditions.Work Environment: Typical construction site environment: Requires working in cramped work spaces and getting into awkward positions. Requires working in very hot (above 90 F degrees) or very cold (below 32F degrees) temperatures and exposure to inclement weather such as dust, wind, snow, rain, etc. Requires working in extremely bright or low lighting conditions Includes exposure to sounds and noise levels that are distracting or uncomfortable.
