We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Senior Project Manager to join our civil engineering team. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in managing complex civil engineering projects across various sectors, including state, municipal, local, and private projects. A Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred. The Senior Project Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of project management, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.Key Responsibilities
Manages, plans, and coordinates activities of projects to ensure that goals or objectives of projects are accomplished within prescribed time frame and funding parameter
Crafts project proposal or plan to determine time frame, funding limitations, procedures for accomplishing projects, staffing requirements, and allotment of available resources for various phases of projects
Interfaces with Executive, Senior Management, Operations, HR, Accounting, and other functional areas
Establishes work plan and multi-disciplinary staffing for each phase of projects, and arranges for recruitment or assignment of project personnel
Confers with project staff to outline work plan and to assign duties, responsibilities, and scope of authority
Manages subconsultants and internal workforce and interfaces with subconsultants workforce
Directs and coordinates activities of project personnel to ensure project progresses on schedule and within the prescribed budget
Reviews status reports prepared by project personnel and modifies schedules or plans as required
Prepares project reports for management, clients, or others
Prepares and presents oral presentations
Confers with project personnel to provide technical advice and to resolve problems
Manages firm personnel and Project Supervisors / leaders assigned to specific projects and reviews and approves timesheets
Supports preparation of invoice packages and collection of outstanding invoices
Assists with Marketing, Business Development efforts, and proposal preparation
Participates in project site visits activities
Coordinates and participates in project closeout activities
Education Requirements and Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field from an accredited college or university
A minimum of 10 years of related experience in managing staff in municipal, transportation, state, civil engineering project management or land development engineering.
A Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.
Strong knowledge of civil engineering principles, practices, and standards.
Extensive experience with state, municipal, local, and private sector clientele and projects.
Must have experience working with multi-disciplinary teams.
Must be able to effectively manage and build a staff; coordinate with subconsultants; interact successfully with clients and other stakeholders; and efficiently manage project budgets and schedules.
Strong communication and presentation skills and techniques to bring about agreement between divergent points of view.
Ability to write clear, concise, and direct narrative and reports.
Strong knowledge in project management discipline to effectively arrange resources and manage multiple simple to medium complexity projects in a cross-functional environment
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and conceptual skills for single or multiple technical areas
Strong negotiating and critical thinking skills
Customer-oriented, a positive, team-oriented attitude, flexibility, an understanding of the business issues driving the need for the project, and solid work ethic are expected
Leadership skills that can energize a multidisciplinary work team to respond to business needs
Must be flexible, well organized, accountable, and dependable
