SNAPSHOT OFYOUR DAY:Prepares a
full range of large and small product items and component parts for
shipment. Checks, marks and records
amount and identity of items being shipped and material used. Secures product and component parts for
shipment by rail, road or truck. Protects
specified surfaces of shipments as required.HOW YOU’LLMAKE AN IMPACT:Prepares a
full range of product items for shipment by performing such duties as:
Checksorder, number and identity of products being shipped.Records amounts shipped.
Lookup parts on computer. Pull ship along parts and secure for shipment.
Linesboxes and wraps, bags, covers or protects specified surfaces as required.
Securesitems being shipped with blocking, wrapping, banding, covers or similar detailsas needed.Installs bracing as required.
Constructsshipping containers.Uses small handtools, saws, nail guns, etc. as required.
Moves,shifts and aligns shipments on trucks to allow proper securement.
Weighs,marks, stencils, tags and identifies items for shipment as required.
Reportsdiscrepancies in materials or items to be shipped.
Keeps immediate work area clean and orderly.
Operates lift truck, pallet jack or similar equipment asrequired.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING:
Works under general direction of supervisor.
Thorough knowledge of shipping functions and related items.
Basic Carpentry skills with ability to operate power tools.
Basic PC skills.
Ability to read sketches and tape measure.
