Find your future with us.The Boeing Company is looking for a Senior Aviate, Navigate, Communicate (ANC) Real-Time Software Engineer to join the BDS Products Capabilities team located in Berkeley, MO. This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) business organization.The BDS Products and Capabilities organization is responsible for supporting a BDS wide Aviate, Navigate, Communicate (ANC) software solution to multiple key future franchise campaigns.The BDS Products and Capabilities organization leverages the complex interconnection of digital threads between BDS's modeling and simulation environment and the platforms currently in service today, as well as future products. In addition, our DevSecOps initiative lays the foundation to create a secure Continuous Integration and Continuous Development (CICD) pipeline to ensure safety, quality, and security, which are key tenants for our defense customers.These elements fully support the Products and Capabilities organization's mission and vision to "Rapidly innovate, develop, and deploy mission systems designs and software capabilities ensuring warfighter superiority". This includes managing onboard data links, moderating communication paths and available bandwidth, and translating between onboard and offboard messaging standards.The selected team member enjoys working collaboratively with others, has a commitment to customer satisfaction and process improvement. They will support the development of solutions to a wide range of complex problems that require ingenuity and innovation. They should be adaptable to new development environments and eager to work with and learn new technologies.Position Responsibilities:
Leads activities to develop, document and maintain complex architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces and designs for software systems.
Leads development of code and integration of complex software components into a fully functional software system.
Develops software verification plans, test procedures and test environments, executing the test procedures and documenting test results to ensure software system requirements are met.
Provides technical leadership for software projects and leads software supplier management activities.
Leads development, selection, tailoring and deployment of processes, tools and metrics.
Leads software research and development projects.
Serves as a subject matter expert for software domains, system-specific issues, processes and regulations.
Tracks and evaluates software team and supplier performance to ensure product and process conformance to project plans and industry standards.
Trains and mentors others. Works under consultative direction.
This position is hybrid. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options. This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future.Security Clearance and Export Control Requirements:This position requires the ability to obtain a Secret U.S. Security Clearance for which the US Government requires U.S. Citizenship. Failure to complete the assessment will remove you from consideration.Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):
Ability to obtain Secret U.S. Security clearance (Post-Start)
Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or other technical degree
8+ years of Software Engineering experience
6+ years of experience C and/or other Object-Oriented programming languages
4+ experience with Aviate, Navigate, Communicate (ANC) systems engineering
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
An active U.S. Security Clearance
Understanding of Agile software development principles and practices
Experience working with embedded software systems
Experience with Open Mission Systems (OMS)
Familiar with using Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, SonarCube is a plus
Typical Education/Experience:Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years' related work experience, Master+12 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.Travel:Occasional travel may be required but would be less than 10%.Relocation:This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility.
