This person will manage daily resource sharing operations and assist in the management of the Library Annex (remote storage facility about a mile from MSU campus). This person will also direct work of classified and student employees, assist in the formulation of policies and procedures, collect, and analyze usage statistics, and plan and develop goals around the area of Interlibrary Loan services all with a focus on excellent customer service.Duties and Responsibilities

Oversee operations of interlibrary loan, for both borrowing and lending, using specialized software to process and track all requests.

Oversee the digitization of chapters and articles, using appropriate equipment (Bookeye, Proscan reader, flatbed scanners, etc.) and deliver materials electronically to fulfill requests.

Partner and work in cross-functional teams with other MSU Library staff on all aspects of interlibrary loan and resource sharing.

Communicate with other libraries about interlibrary loan policies, consortium agreements, and overdue, damaged, or lost materials.

Provide excellent customer service with internal and external users, and resolve problems regarding requests, renewals, delivery, and overdues for both borrowing and lending.

Work with the Serials Coordinator to manage activities at the Library Annex (retrieve; scan and deliver; or transfer materials to Library for scanning or shipment).

Gather and review usage statistics to inform purchasing, subscriptions, and workflows relative to collection development efforts, and maintain accurate records of transactions.

Direct employees in the daily work of the interlibrary loan, provide training, and participate in their annual performance evaluations, and supervise student assistants performing ILL duties within the CATS department.

Keep abreast of current issues and trends in interlibrary loan and resource sharing and provide input regarding potential changes/improvements to the service.

Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills

College degree or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

Demonstrated experience using strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines, use judgment and analytical skills for problem-solving, and exhibit a willingness to seek consultation when appropriate or necessary.

Demonstrated experience interacting with diverse groups of individuals, utilizing excellent service-oriented interpersonal skills, and the ability to communicate effectively.

Demonstrated competence using personal computers and various software such as word processing, spreadsheets, database, presentation, email, internet, and relational databases (Microsoft Office 365 suite preferred).

Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills

Two or more years’ previous experience working in academic or public libraries, interlibrary loan, or digitization of library resources.

Familiarity with Ex Libris’ Alma/Primo unified resource management system, and/or Rapido resource sharing platform, ILLiad software, or OCLC WorldShare Interlibrary Loan.

Familiarity with digitization workflows, scanners, scanning tools, and software.

Progressive supervisory experience.
