Respiratory Therapy Supervisor

Position Summary: The Respiratory Therapy Supervisor is responsible for assisting with planning, directing, organizing, monitoring and staffing in Pediatric Therapy services subject to policies, budgets, objectives and directives mandated by regulatory agencies, DNV and the hospital administrative team. Under the direction of the Respiratory Therapy Manager, is responsible for all aspects of patient care and the supervision of assigned employees. Completes procedure development, provides ongoing education, and verifies staff clinical competency for all patient populations including premature newborn, pediatric, adult and geriatric populations. Works in cooperation with the Medical Directors to define protocols and execute quality initiatives. Provides direct patient care for the premature newborn, pediatric, adult and geriatric populations.Minimum Qualifications:

Graduate of an accredited registered respiratory therapy program

Montana Licensure (Respiratory Care Practitioner)

Registered Respiratory Therapist (NBRC) required

American Heart Association BLS required

American Heart Association ACLS within 3 months of hire

Neonatal Resuscitation Program Provider within 3 months of hire

American Heart Association PALS within 3 months of hire

Neonatal-Pediatric Specialist (NPS) credential within 6 months

Preferred: Bachelor’s degree

Preferred: Five (5) years of clinical experience including three (3) years of Level III or higher NICU experience

Preferred: Previous supervisor experience

Preferred: S.T.A.B.L.E

Preferred: Adult Critical Care Specialist (NBRC-ACCS) credential

Essential Job Functions:

Assists leadership with broad operations to ensure the provision of comprehensive departmental services in compliance with all regulatory agencies and hospital requirements.

Ensures a collaborative departmental approach to long-range strategic operational planning, care and service design and development of organizational policies, which reflect the mission of the organization.

Coordinates and oversees the organization-wide departmental services. Continuously assesses, measures and improves departmental performance.

Demonstrates responsible management of all departmental resources.

Demonstrates clinical/technical and managerial competency. Ensures staff professional needs are met.

Leads, teaches, inspires, helps and consistently demonstrates hospital behavioral standards

Works occasional nights, weekends, and holidays, participates in the clinical CALL rotation, and covers administratively for the Respiratory Manager as assigned.

Physical Requirements

Lifting, Pushing, and Pulling: Support 50 pounds of weight (patient, assist with bedside needs, etc.) Lift 50 pounds (pick up a child, transfer a patient, etc.) Carry equipment/supplies. Use upper body strength (CPR, physically restrain patient, etc.)

Extended Hours: The role may involve working for extended periods, requiring sitting, walking, or standing for eight or more hours daily.

Flexible Schedule: The position may necessitate working beyond a standard 40-hour workweek, including weekends and after-hours shifts.

On-Call Availability: On-call work may be required to respond to organizational and patient needs promptly.

Effective Communication: Proficient in effective communication, both in person and through various technologies.

Handling Challenging Situations: The role may involve dealing with upset individuals, requiring the ability to de-escalate situations and work effectively with frustrated patients or families.

Repetitive Tasks: Ability to perform repetitive tasks as needed to fulfill job responsibilities.

bloodborne pathogens, such as blood, bodily fluids, or tissues.

radiation in settings where medical imaging procedures are performed.
