Contract Type Classified Salary If other, please specify Recruitment Type Open Position Details General Statement Montana State University Web and Digital Communications is seeking a full-time graphic designer for user web and digital platform experience (UX) design. In this position, you will be a part of the Web and Digital Communications team, which manages 40 applications and the university’s website, including its 800-plus micro sites. The successful candidate will oversee all graphic aspects of the user experience for MSU website revamps and for the building/rebuilding of applications. In between projects, you will develop and update web design components, assist MSU’s Creative Services team with projects, and perform other duties as assigned.This position is part of the Web and Digital Communications team and will work closely with MSU’s Creative Services team, both of which are units within University Communications.Duties and Responsibilities

Lead the design process — from research, concept development, and wireframing to prototyping to final visual design for web and digital platform graphical user interface.

Develop intuitive and efficient information architecture to facilitate navigation for students, faculty, and staff.

Design interactive elements, transitions, and animations.

Develop and iterate on site maps, user flows, mockups, and wireframes.

Ensure designs meet accessibility standards and best practices.

Develop and maintain a comprehensive web design system.

In collaboration with the Creative Services team, design print and other digital marketing collateral and serve as a bridge between MSU’s Creative Services, Web, and Marketing teams.

Design color schemes, typography, iconography, components, and other visual elements while adhering to university brand guidelines.

Collaborate with writers, photographers, website developers, and other University Communications’ team members to inform design decisions.

Present design solutions and rationale to internal teams and stakeholders.

Partner with website developers to ensure seamless implementation of designs and provide support during the development process.

Stay up-to-date on design trends and best practices in UX design, particularly for higher education.

Prioritize and manage multiple projects from start to finish within design specifications and time restrictions.

Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills

Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, art or related field, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.

Proficiency in design tools such as Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar software.

Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills

Experience as a UX designer.
