Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable Clerk
Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable Clerk. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting within a law firm setting and possess hands-on experience with TABS accounting software. This role will be responsible for assisting with all aspects of accounts payable and accounts receivable, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in financial operations.
Responsibilities:
Accounts Payable:
Process invoices, expense reports, and other payment requests in a timely and accurate manner.
Verify the accuracy of invoices and other documentation, ensuring proper authorization and coding.
Reconcile vendor statements and resolve any discrepancies.
Prepare and process electronic transfers and checks.
Maintain accurate vendor records and ensure compliance with company policies.
Assist with month-end closing procedures related to accounts payable.
Accounts Receivable:
Generate and distribute client invoices and statements.
Monitor accounts to ensure payments are up to date.
Follow up on outstanding invoices via phone, email, and mail.
Process client payments (checks, credit cards, wire transfers) and apply them accurately to client accounts.
Reconcile client accounts and resolve any billing discrepancies.
Prepare and analyze accounts receivable aging reports.
Assist with trust account reconciliations.
General Accounting:
Utilize TABS Legal accounting software for all accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.
Maintain organized financial records and documentation.
Assist with general ledger postings and reconciliations as needed.
Provide support for audits and other financial reviews.
Perform other accounting duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in accounts payable and accounts receivable.
REQUIRED: Proven experience working in a law firm environment.
REQUIRED: Demonstrated proficiency and hands-on experience with TABS Legal accounting software.
Experience working in a robust legal environment
Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
