Lab Assistant - Paying up to $20/hr.Location: Kansas City, MO.Job Description: We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Lab Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and analyzing various types of samples using sophisticated analytical equipment and techniques. Key responsibilities include:
Preparing and analyzing samples using pH meters, densitometers, dissolved oxygen meters, conductivity meters, calorimeters, viscometers, rheometers, spectrophotometers, auto-titrators, ion chromatographs (IC), inductively coupled plasma spectrometers (ICP), laser particle size analyzers, gas chromatographs (GC), High Pressure Liquid Chromatographs (HPLC), titrators, auto-claves, pipettors, platers, incubators, and ovens.
Performing microbiological tests to determine spore counts and contamination levels.
Operating STARLiMS Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), Waters Empower laboratory data acquisition system, and other instrument-specific computer systems.
Searching databases for test methods, specifications, and standards to complete analyses.
Promptly and accurately recording, calculating, and reporting analytical results.
Maintaining records to meet internal and ISO 9001, 14001, and 18001 requirements.
Completing daily instrument calibrations and inspections.
Maintaining laboratory supplies, preparing solutions, cleaning glassware, and disposing of solid/liquid waste.
Become knowledgeable of RCRA hazardous waste regulations, waste determinations, and waste codes.
Diagnosing typical instrument problems with minimal assistance and providing support to others.
Qualifications:
High School diploma.
Good oral and written communication skills.
High attention to detail and ability to follow written procedures.
Ability to multi-task and prioritize workload to optimize efficiency and productivity.
Preference for candidates with basic understanding of HPLC and GC operation.
Work Environment:
Day Shift - (4x10 hour shifts, 3 days off)
Performs routine testing on all samples in the Analytical Services laboratory, providing analytical data for process control, quality control, process development, product development, and waste management.
