Aston Carter is currently partnering with a well-known company in the area looking to add a Buyer to their team. If you have 5+ years of buying experience within the manufacturing industry and are interested in a foot-in-the-door opportunity with a large company, please apply!Job Description: Manage components from new product development through discontinuation of product, including cost, delivery, inventory, and payment. Identify and lead improvements in purchasing processes and teams. Identify and implement CIP’s, through design changes, eSourcing, and supplier negotiations. Lead CIP implementations within purchasing and tracking other functions requirements. Monitor and address PO pricing to reduce negative PPV. Plan component requirements using MRP. Communicate potential shortages to appropriate personnel (commercial, planning, manufacturing). Work with suppliers to proactively mitigate shortages or recover when necessary. Develop improved processes to better manage requirement changes. Place purchase orders with suppliers and monitor adherence to delivery schedules. Reschedule orders based on forecast and requirement changes. Represent purchasing on project teams for new products. Follow GSP and GSQP process to implement new purchased parts, from concept design to manufacturing launch. Take lead role on implementation for both purchasing and tracking requirements from other functions. Develop and negotiate new supply agreements with suppliers. Work with legal to ensure acceptable legal terms. Negotiate contract renewals or changes upon expiration. Execute contracts on behalf of the company. Comply with all contract terms associated with assigned suppliers. Manage Inventory levels. Adjust orders as necessary to reduce excess inventory; Negotiate with suppliers to reduce lead times and lot sizes. Implement pull systems or other inventory management systems with suppliers to reduce inventory levels. Develop tools for continued inventory management and understand inventory issues beyond just the purchasing perspective. Manage MOB changes and Supplier Requested Changes on purchased components that require a new source or new supplier to ensure smooth transitions and limited scrap costs. Utilize supplier quality processes as required. Lead teams to implement changes. Participate in MRB and lead team consensus on disposition of rejected purchased material. Act as primary contact with supplier for some concerns. Work closely with Supplier Quality to ensure repeat failures are not experienced. Follow RTV process to return defective product to suppliers. Address match exceptions with suppliers and Accounts Payable to be sure all invoices are paid on time. Address receipt errors, invoice errors, and system errors. Work to better understand drivers of match exceptions and proactively prevent them. Maintain supplier information, part MRP data, quote data and other information in MRP System. Develop improved reports and screens to further the system efficiency. Participate in Value Streams and provide purchasing perspective on operational improvements. Understand entire product chain and provide ideas to improve efficiency and effectiveness.Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent) Excellent understanding of MRP, verbal and written communication skills, negotiating skills. Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office suite products. Ability to work well within diverse teams. A minimum of five years of increasingly responsible supply chain experience The successful candidate will be an energetic problem solver with excellent analytical skills, is flexible in their approach, adapts well to change, and works well under pressure. Background may include a combination of exp. in negotiating contracts, planning, and forecasting, and implementing cost savings initiatives.
