Description:PCAS Windows Application Installation Developer PCAS Job Description:Engineers solutions for stand-alone client/server, web, and cross-platform application suites for secure environments. Understands architecture, installation procedures, and application functionality in an open environment in order to replicate these within a secure environment.Role Responsibilities: Traits of a secure environment area:o No internet accesso No remote accesso Prior approval needed to obtain information such as log files.o A System Administrator works as a liaison between the application owner and the end user. Obtains application requirements from Subject Matter Experts, analyzes documentation and examines code. Includes understanding the interdependency of applications in order to integrate software. o If there are several SMEs for one application, the Installation Developer gains knowledge from all SMEs and may become the main Subject Matter Expert on implementation for secure environments. Engineers the application to function in a secure environment. The Installation Developer installs and configures the application from the ground up and configures the desktops/servers per package requirements. Identifies and records security exceptions where applicable. Develops efficient client and server installation procedures. When applicable, creates automated application packages using tools such as Package Manager (internally developed packaging application), VBScript, Wise Package Studio, and PowerShell. Tests package inside a secure environment; adhering to and ensuring approved security standard practices are followed. Security requirements are set by government guidelines. Technical writer: Writes a simple, concise installation guide with easy-to-follow technical instructions for each application that is released. Provides installation support to System Administrators for secure environments. Interfaces with core application owners to provide input about modifications needed for secure environment use.Qualifications: Must have a current Secret Clearance Must have a current CompTIA Security + Must understand MSI technology, including but not limited to, transforms (MST) and must have used an MSI editor. (examples include, but not limited to, Wise Package Studio, InstallShield, ORCA, etc.). Must have used vendor silent switches, PROPERTY variables and response files. Must have comprehensive knowledge of Windows Operating System. Must have solid troubleshooting skills. Must have scripting skills. The ability to read, understand and follow instructions within an installation script is necessary. Must have VBScript experience. PowerShell Scripting experience a plus. Must understand networking. Must be able to execute command lines from a CMD prompt. Forward thinking and the ability to apply past knowledge to new situations is essential.
