Job Description

1 Uses router (i.e. trim or round over) and files to trim excess laminate from base product and smooth out any marks or imperfections in order to meet company quality control standards and customer specifications,

2 Works safely to prevent on-the-job injuries by following all company and equipment safety guidelines (i.e. eye and ear protection).

3 Observes materials to match for color, grain, or texture on wood, veneer and laminate products.

4 Prepares laminating surface with electric or air powered sander and glues laminate or other material to lumber using spray adhesive and manual pressure rollers to insure proper adhesion.

5 Studies blueprints, sketches, shop drawings, or building plans to obtain information about materials needed and dimensions of structure or product to be fabricated.

6 Uses shop drawings to measure and establish proper layout on boards, timbers, or plywood, using square, tape measure and pencil.

7 Operates, adjusts settings and recalibrates a variety of woodworking machines, such as table saws, routers, chop saws, joiners and planers to produce product according to customer specifications.

8 Prepares surface of solid surface counter tops, applies adhesive to fix bowl in place and then uses router and sander to finish project to desired specifications.

9 Shapes and trims materials to prescribed measurements, using hand tools such as saws, chisels, files, and planes.

10 Discusses jobs with other employees or makes verbal suggestions to appropriate personnel on improvements in work methods and procedures that would allow a job to be completed faster and more accurately.

11 Uses mathematical operations (i.e. converting inches to millimeters and fractions to decimals, etc.) when figuring angles, radius, etc. on projects requiring such information.

12 Works with individuals receiving finished project to make any modifications necessary to make the installation easier (i.e. drilling holes for electrical and computer lines, etc.).

13 Fits, glues, screws, and clamps parts of subassemblies together to form complete unit, using clamps crews and other devices.

14 Works in teams to accomplish flexible department and company goals by using time and resources efficiently and meeting priority schedule.

15 Records job numbers on back of time cards to document time spent on specific jobs.

16 Replaces worn router bits, drill bits, saw blades, etc. with hand tools following company and OSHA safety precautions (i.e. lockout/tag out).

17 Troubleshoots work-related problems by observing the problem, taking corrective actions when possible, discussing with other team members or notifying supervisor.

18 Completes lockout/tagout form when replacing/repairing parts or performing minor preventative maintenance on electric shop tools (i.e. table saw, chop saw).

19 Trains new employees using verbal instructions and hands on demonstrations.

20 Verifies receipt of raw materials by comparing against bill of lading, documents and back ordered products received and transports goods received to proper location.

21 Monitors pressure gauge, adjusts adhesive spray guns and changes glue barrel as necessary.

22 Verifies trueness of structure with plum bob, square, and carpenter's level.

23 Operates forklift to transport and deliver raw materials to proper department.

24 Installs counters, cabinets, and other specialty items using shop drawings, carpenter's hand tools (i.e. hammer, screw driver, level, square), and power tools (i.e., drill, saws).

25 Installs hardware, such as hinges, catches and drawer pulls using jigs, templates, hand tools, power tools, and tape measure.
