60 year-old man in St Charles Missouri needs a long-term, live-in home health aide and personal assistant. He is educated, clean, polite, religious, has adult children, fit, independent, drives a vehicle himself, physically capable in many regards, and has been partially disabled in a wheelchair for several years.
Assignment Overview & Schedule:
This person will work 40 hours weekly, with 30 scheduled hours of caregiving (3 hours each morning 8am-11am and 3 hours each evening 8pm-11pm on weekdays), plus an additional 10 flexible hours for home cleaning, laundry, shopping, and occasional errands. So, weekday afternoons, early evenings, and all weekends not scheduled & flexible.
Caregiving work includes helping partially disabled person (who uses an electric wheelchair) in the mornings Monday through Friday 8am-11am to get out of bed, dressed, exercised, and light food prep; and in the evenings Monday through Friday 8pm - 11pm help get ready for bed, bathe, physical therapy, prepare catheter, etc.
Position Requirements:
- Required to live on-premise in newer house in St Charles in a 1200 sf nicely furnished semi-private suite w/kitchenette, full bathroom, etc. on first floor (client lives on second floor, and full kitchen would be shared)
- Must be available for the specific daily schedule described above; not negotiable
- Physically capable and willing to help move/position client from chair to bed and shower and back
- Must be willing to help with physical care, including dressing, exercise & physical therapy, applying a catheter, medicine administration, etc.; these can be taught if not already experienced
- Already experienced & skilled at residential home cleaning, including bathrooms, kitchen, doing & folding laundry, making a bed, cleaning floors, dusting, etc.
- Being a CNA, and prior experience as a home health aide with references preferred (but not required)
- Finalist must pass a background check, with no criminal history
- Dependable, takes initiative, responsible, mature, eye for detail and consistency
Pay & Expectations:
- $18 hourly and +/- forty hours paid weekly (equals approximately $720 weekly and $3120 monthly)
- Furnished private suite ($1225 monthly value); only the caregiver can live there (no additional people) but occasional guests are okay; no pets and non-smoking please
- Two weeks paid vacation annually, accrued at one day per month worked
- Total compensation value of hourly pay and housing is approximately $52,000 annually
- Would like a one year commitment
- Will do a paid one week trial (not moved in or living there yet) to confirm job fit & compatibility both ways
