Job Overview:
We are seeking a compassionate, trustworthy, and dependable Senior Caregiver/Companion to provide evening and weekend care for a 91-year-old female patient in South St. Louis. This position is ideal for someone who is dedicated to improving the quality of life for seniors by offering companionship, assistance with light cooking, and support with administering medications.
Responsibilities:
Companionship: Engage the patient in meaningful conversation, activities, or quiet company as needed to provide comfort and companionship.
Meal Preparation: Prepare light meals in accordance with dietary needs and preferences, ensuring there are nutritious and appealing options.
Medication: Assist with medication schedule to ensure timely administration of prescriptions.
Personal Assistance: Assist with mobility, escorting to appointments, and personal care as needed.
Safety and Comfort: Monitor the patient’s safety at all times, making sure the environment is comfortable and free from hazards.
Light Housekeeping: Assist with light housekeeping related to patient care, such as tidying up after meals or activities.
Observation and Reporting: Observe any changes in health or behavior and report them promptly to the family as necessary.
Qualifications:
Prior experience working with elderly patients, preferably in a caregiving or companion role.
Strong sense of trustworthiness and integrity; the ideal candidate will demonstrate reliability and respect for patient privacy.
Understanding of basic elderly care, including knowledge of medication administration and dietary needs.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; patience, empathy, and a friendly demeanor.
Ability to handle the physical aspects of caregiving, such as lifting, standing, and assisting with mobility, as needed.
Dependable and punctual with a commitment to providing quality, compassionate care.
Requirements:
Availability for evening and weekend shifts.
High school diploma or equivalent; additional training in elderly care is a plus.
