This course takes a total of 30 days to complete. 10am to 3pm, Monday through Friday, excluding any holidays. Class is held inside a commercial building space in the heart of Maplewood. We have a large classroom setup with various hands on demo models for the different skills you will be learning. There is no substitute for doing the actual work. You will never become proficient at any trade by just watching videos or reading about it or listening to someone talk in person. You need to get the tools in yours hands and get on a ladder and really get a feel for the work. This course will provide all the tools you need to learn. Hand tools, power tools, multiple siding brakes, tool belts, ladders, fasteners, sealants and caulk guns. Everything we need to make sure you can tell your first customer that you have actually done this before, not just read about it or watched a youtube video.
If you aren’t feeling confident at the end of this 4 week course I will be able to allow a finite number of students the time to work in the shop for 1 extra week. I want you to feel good about your abilities and your investment and I won’t rest until you do. Things will ultimately end with wrapping and caulking because that is what 9 out of every 10 people need the most practice with. A lot of these skill sets you will likely be able to pick up after doing them once or twice but wrapping and caulking will be a solid week or two of the course. Ultimately it depends on the overall pace that the class is moving at as a whole. I want everyone to feel good about what we learned in each chapter before we move on to the next. We will be doing mach tear outs and installs of 1st and 2nd floor height windows and getting hands on with every single skill set I listed on the homepage of this website. Everything is as hands on as possible. When you walk out of my classroom at the end of this course you should feel almost overwhelmed with all the career possibilities at your fingertips. You can start your business that day or start calling around to get hired with any number of local outfits. No matter how many good guys there may or may not be out there doing this at any given time, there is never enough. With all these skills you will never be without opportunities.
These days almost everyone is hiring all year round. It’s true what people say, good help is hard to find and that problem has been quickly escalating the past few years. You will be the figurative needle in a tradesman haystack. I can say this with confidence because I spent a solid 2 years with a permanent now hiring add up online and driving around with one on my company truck. Every guy I ever hired ultimately had to be fired. No one ever made it longer than 4 months before making a crucial mistake or a series of smaller but still problematic mistakes. The most common offense was the caulking and wrapping but there are plenty of other reasons you could be let go from any kind of reputable outfit. Being consistently late, poor communication, smelling like drugs or alcohol on the job site, not cleaning up right or using drop cloths, damaging customers homes and lying about it or just flat out no call no showing are just a few of the all too common problems I faced with hiring. I ran a really tight ship and anybody who is serious about their business will absolutely be the same way. I will make sure you understand exactly what you need to do or never do to make yourself a standout in this business. I still get referrals from the very first customers I ever had because I have always given 110% and people never forget that. There are so many truly awful contractors out there. Be the change this market needs. Just treat people the way you want to be treated and provide them the same quality of work you would perform on your own home and you cannot fail.
Each course comes with a physical copy of my book and a year of support from me. Yes you read that right. If you have any kind of problem or question whatsoever during your first year in business you can reach out to me directly and get the help you need. I want you to succeed!
On my website I breakdown the Key requirements and Expectations, Average Pay, My Qualifications and All Details about the course. This WILL change your life. Give me 30 days and I will give you financial freedom. The average cost of trade school is anywhere from $5,000 to $30,000 per year, taking 2 years or more average, with 90% of those trades making nowhere near what window and door professionals can. This will give you an incredible sense of Independence and control over your life and income like you've never felt before! Beats the hell out of applying for grants and financing through a typical university or trade school and then grinding for years on end while also trying to keep money in your pocket, only to basically be at rung 1 on the ladder of any company you go to work for. Don't be a cog in that tired old machine.
