Bookkeeper Payroll Specialist

Description We are in search of a Bookkeeper Payroll Specialist to join our team in Lincoln, Nebraska. In this role, you will be tasked with managing various bookkeeping functions, focusing on maintaining accurate records of financial transactions, processing payroll, and handling customer inquiries. This role is integral to our operations in the industry, and we are committed to providing an environment conducive to professional growth and success.Responsibilities Handle the full cycle of bookkeeping activities including but not limited to maintaining general ledgers, reconciling accounts, and preparing financial statements Ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates Prepare and submit paperwork for new employees and enter payroll information into the central database Investigate and resolve any discrepancies in payroll, ensuring all payroll transactions comply with tax and wage laws Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll issues or concerns in a timely and professional manner Conduct regular audits on financial procedures and processes to ensure accuracy Collaborate with internal departments to streamline bookkeeping and payroll procedures Assist in the development and implementation of systems for collecting, analyzing, verifying, and reporting financial information Prepare and present reports detailing the status of payroll processing, accounting, and bookkeeping activities Stay updated on laws and regulations that may affect the payroll system and ensure the company’s compliance. Requirements Possess proficiency in bookkeeping functions Advanced knowledge of payroll processing and related tax principles Experience with payroll software and systems Familiarity with accounting software such as QuickBooks Strong mathematical and analytical skills Detail-oriented with high levels of accuracy Excellent organizational and time management skills Ability to handle confidential information with discretion Strong communication and interpersonal skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel Ability to work independently and as part of a team Knowledge of relevant local, state, and federal payroll and tax regulations Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation is a plus Ability to meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
