Learn more at www.adm.com .Mill Trainee- Lincoln, NEThis is an hourly level position.Position Summary:The Mill Trainee position is an entry level position for the flour mill. This is a higher skilled role designed to supplement the current workforce and address complex tasks that may occur in the plant.Successful candidates will be willing to work overtime, any shift, holidays, weekends and call back when needed. Also must exhibit a professional image at all times; maintain a positive and respectful attitude.Job Responsibilities:

Safety and Health

Objective: Ensure a safe working environment for both employees and visitors.

Evaluate employee safe work practices according to ADM policies and procedures.

Have the ability to fill out various safety work permits and work in a safe manner.

Perform VBS observations.

Take responsibility for your own safe work behaviors.

Actively attend all safety training and meetings and pass associated tests as required.

Production

Objective: Ensure mill has proper wheat mix, wheat has optimal moisture gain, and production schedule is followed. Keep flour in spec for customers. Assist in keep mill running efficiently.

Set proper mill wheat mix, follow production sheet to pull and temper proper wheat mix, monitor cleaning house to minimize wheat loss, operate cleaning house to temper wheat to desired level of moisture for optimal milling efficiency

Suggest ways to improve plant operation.

Monitor various processing parameters and physically take readings from machinery in all parts of the plant as defined

Able to understand and manage a continuous process for wheat cleaning, milling and tempering

Assess current operating conditions and make process adjustments as needed to keep critical product specifications

Understand advanced milling philosophy and assist with mill production and troubleshooting.

Demonstrate the ability to learn new jobs.

Maintenance Repair

Objective: Optimize cleaning house efficiency and minimize unscheduled downtime.

Participate in mill and cleaning house repairs when called upon including: roll changes, sifter repair, filter sock changing, purifier repair, spout repairs, lubrication and preventive maintenances. This also includes changing or cleaning blower filters, replacing sprockets, chains, and other repairs that would not require an experienced maintenance employee.

Assist with repair day execution.

Direct maintenance tech’s during after-hours call ins

Have the ability to trouble shoot potential process/machine problems before they become critical

Have the ability to understand direction and accomplish detailed tasks.

Take direction from Miller Supervisor and Mill Superintendent for preventive maintenance practices.

Food Safety

Objective: Ensure a quality product through systematic procedures.

Monitor and control cleaning house feed in stations; perform weekly magnet checks; and document all mill repairs.

Identify any processes that would cause high risk to food safety

Comply with all GMP/HACCP/FS22000 procedures while maintaining master cleaning schedules

Quality

Objective: Produce a food safe product that meets the specifications of the customer.

Sampling raw wheat; proper wheat mix adjustments; temper water adjustments.

Sampling flour and adjust mill to maximize flour output and quality

Able to perform all lab tests as determined necessary by Management.

Understand and operate systems within quality parameters.

Sanitation

Objective: Control and maintain required housekeeping standards

Follow proper master sanitation and all cleaning procedures within all areas.

Clean daily to meet food production plant standards

Lead team in keeping plant sanitary, teach new employees how to

Equipment Used/Physical Environment & Education Requirements

Extremely warm in the summer months with high noise levels and high powered milling equipment, which includes extensive use of equipment for grinding.

Must adhere to PPE requirements.

Able to work both supervised and unsupervised at times

Advanced understanding of computers, math comprehension and previous plant environment is helpful

Must have the ability to climb stairs, lift up to 50 lbs. bend, kneel, crawl, stand for long periods, work in confined spaces, work with heights, and work in hot and cold temperatures and a dusty environment for extended periods of time

Exhibit good work habits, including excellent attendance and individual productivity
