Ameritas Life Insurance Corp. in Lincoln, Nebraska seeks Lead Software Developer.
Responsibilities: Responsible for leading the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of application software in accordance with business needs. Additionally, the Lead Software Engineer works with teams across work areas and delivers unit tested software programs and supporting documentation. Specific duties include: designing software programs and solutions of moderate to high complexity, and considering their future impact; overseeing the entire software lifecycle from identification through end-of-life for all applications; developing and implementing unit tests and maintenance procedures; collaborating with IT business associates and individuals in various areas; continuously staying informed of updates and advancements in software development and capabilities to ensure business programs remain current and effective in the developing market; and other duties as assigned. Employee may be stationed anywhere in the continental U.S., but will report to headquarters in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Education: Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (or foreign equivalent).
Requirements: Two (2) years of experience in the job offered or related position. Other special requirements include: Two (2) years of experience analyzing user needs and requirements and using this information to develop, create, or modify applications and software systems to provide solutions; two (2) years of experience preparing a strategy for system implementation and collaborating with system analysts, engineers, and programmers, to coordinate the installation of new applications and software; two (2) years of experience directing software system testing and validation procedures, programming, and documentation; two (2) years of experience storing, retrieving, and manipulating data for analysis of system capabilities and requirements; and two (2) years experience using Cobol, JCL, CICS, SQL, JAVA languages and DB2 Database.
In lieu of a Master’s degree and two (2) years of experience, employer will accept a Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or closely related field plus five (5) years of progressive post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or related position.
