What you'll do as a Directional Drill Crew Foreman
Provide communication and direction to crew members
Perform duties of directional drill operators and laborers
Implement and perform steps to complete jobs in a timely manner
Set daily production goals
Conduct daily walk-throughs
Ensure DOT documentation
Monitor and adhere to all safety processes and procedures
Conduct weekly tool box talks
Maintain and submit required reporting
Set up safety perimeter using signage, cones and safety barriers and at times flagging traffic
Conduct a Job Task Safety Analysis (JTSA) prior to starting construction per JTSA requirements
Other Duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Previous experience in a similar position and/or specific experience and knowledge regarding the drill process and equipment with a focus on crew leadership is required
Previous Ability to read prints and interpret utility maps to identify the type and size of underground utilities
Good verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to give descriptive and respectful direction
Must be able to proficiently use locators to safely identify utilities
Must have good troubleshooting and problem solving skills
Must be very safety conscientious
Basic computer skills required, experience with Google apps a plus!
Valid drivers license required with an acceptable driving record
Unrestricted Class A CDL with Tanker Endorsement is a plus (Higher wage scales apply to CDL holders)
May be required to work overtime: after regular business hours, weekends, or be on emergency on-call as needed
Travel may be required
Physical Requirements:
Climb into and out of equipment (trucks, cars, backhoes, trenchers, etc.)
Must be able to lift/carry 50 lbs regularly and up to 100 LBS as needed with or without assistance
Duties outlined in this position will require the employee to stand, crouch, sit, bend, use hands and fingers to handle or feel as well as reaching with hands and arms to spaces both high and low. The employee will be standing, walking, climbing, balancing, crawling, crouching, lifting, holding or stooping while on shift
Ability to work while wearing safety boots, safety glasses and hardhat
Remote work may be required - long driving and sitting will be required in these instances
Specific vision abilities required to perform this job include but are not limited to: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus potentially near and/or far as needed
Employees in this job classification may be exposed to dust, fumes or other airborne pathogens
The noise level in the work environment for this position is moderate to loud
All work is outdoors so employees in this position are regularly exposed to outside weather conditions which can include but is not limited to: extreme heat and cold temperatures; inclement weather such as rain, snow, sleet and dust as well as adverse driving conditions including wet roads, icy roads, and fog
