District Accountant

Description We are seeking a District Accountant to join our team based in Omaha, Nebraska. As a District Accountant, you will be responsible for managing our accounting and reporting processes, ensuring the accuracy of our financial records, and providing crucial support to various departments. This opportunity is in the Non-Profit industry where you will play a key role in maintaining the financial health of our organization.Responsibilities: Oversee the accounting structure for the Grant Fund, updating and communicating changes when necessary Manage the budgeting process for district grant awards, making adjustments as needed Ensure the accuracy of grant expenditures and receipts, making corrections via adjusting journal entries Review payroll distribution reports to verify the correct coding of salary and benefit expenditures Manage the coding and verification of receipts for entry into the accounting software system Prepare comprehensive financial reports, gathering necessary data and maintaining supporting documentation Perform monthly bank reconciliations for the district’s accounts, verifying transactions and making necessary corrections for cash-related items Assist various departments like Food Service, Special Education, and Transportation in preparing financial reports Provide support during the District's annual financial audit by supplying required financial data Offer support to district personnel in the area of grants receipts and expenditures, including report creation. Requirements Possession of a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role, preferably within the non-profit sector. Proficient in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) processes. Demonstrated experience with bank reconciliations. Familiarity with General Ledger operations and maintenance. Experience with creating and managing journal entries.
