Description/Job SummaryVALIANT SERVICES NEEDS YOU!Full-Time Direct Support ProfessionalsDo you like exploring your community? Do you enjoy helping others? Then a Direct Support Professional for our Supported Living Services is the right job for you! As a Direct Support Professional (DSP) for our Valiant Services, a program of Resources for Human Development, you will provide support to individuals with developmental disabilities in a supported home, apartment, or community environment. Successful candidates must be enthusiastic, reliable, and motivated to assist others in building better lives for themselves, their families and their community.In this position, you will assist the individual in leading a self-determined lifestyle by providing support and information necessary to live more independently. This would include helping them with meal planning and preparation, household chores, setting goals, building self-esteem, and going on community outings. Please keep in mind that schedules are determined based on the needs of the clients.Hours for this position are typically afternoon/evenings during the week and can vary between 3pm-11pm. Weekend hours may be needed as well. The ideal candidate must be flexible. Schedules will be 30-40 hours per week.How You Can Make a Real Impact:

Responsibilities/Duties-Interact with individuals on a one-to-one basis providing guidance and support in facilitating a healthy lifestyle.-Participate in monthly meetings to obtain the most updated care information for each person supported and other employment related policy information.-Teach new skills and document progress for persons supported in accordance with the Individual Support Plans, Behavior Support Plans, and other areas of need as assigned.-Complete daily documentation (ISP data, etc.)-Maintain certifications required to work in an individualized setting (CPR, First Aid, Med Aid)-Utilize knowledge about the diverse challenges facing individuals (i.e. human rights) and ensure individuals supported have the opportunity to engage in personal choice.-Pursue knowledge and information necessary to perform job duties as based on the needs and interests of individuals supported.-Other duties may be assigned as necessary to complete the mission of the agency or serve the needs of the population.Required ExperienceField experience preferred, but not required.Required EducationHigh school diploma or GED requiredRequired Qualifications-19 years of age or older-Valid driver's license and vehicle insurance-Reliable, safe transportation while on shift. This includes the ability to safely travel up to 30 highway and/or city miles in all road and weather conditions as safely possible.-Able to complete and maintain all necessary training and certification requirements-Demonstrate the ability to work independently with a minimum supervision-Ability to communicate both verbally and in written formProgram SummaryValiant Services provides residential supports to individuals with developmental disabilities.
