Perform QC laboratory chemical analysis to support production. This includes analysis of raw materials, process intermediates, agricultural formulations, and environmental samples. The Quality Control Analyst will also analyze samples for residual impurities and perform instrument maintenance on analytical instrumentation in the lab. The test methods, in most part, are established and routine.  Under supervision from QC Manager and QC Chemists, troubleshoot and make recommendations on solving batch formulation quality issues based on Syngenta manufacturing and quality control specifications or government policies. Shift work is required, this person must be available to work night shifts and alternative schedules as needed. Accountabilities   Support all safety and compliance requirements. Must be fully knowledgeable of and compliant with all Syngenta safety policies and operating procedures. Must contribute to a strong safety culture. Provide analytical data and support to operations to ensure efficient operation and production of quality products. Provide accurate, timely and defensible data to operations units and/or regulatory agencies. Ensure that all reported data are produced following established SOPs and QA/QC criteria. Maintain retention sample storage area. Assist in general housekeeping for the lab including proper disposal of chemicals. Report results of out of specifications product according to established procedures and criteria and assist in corrective action where appropriate. Analyze intermediate and finished products using UPLC, HPLC or GC, physical testing instrumentation, and a variety of wet chemistry methods. Analyze environmental samples (wastewater and storm water) using HPLC and report analytical results in a timely manner. Analyze product rinsate samples using UPLC/HPLC and report analytical results in a timely manner. Analyze products for residual impurities (RI) using HPLC, UPLC, and LC/MS and report results to operations. This requires an understanding of both the chemical analysis and operations processes. Troubleshoot analytical chromatographic issues including the instruments and methods. Perform instrument maintenance on analytical instrumentation in the lab (HPLC, UPLC, GC) Have a general understanding of formulation and pack process at Syngenta Omaha and is comfortable making decisions according to established SOPs and policies. Other QC lab related activities, as assigned, to ensure continuity of production in the lab.
