OPPD's Senior Security Engineer is a highly organized, thorough, security-minded problem solver focused on the protection of OPPD's information system assets and data against compromise and cyber-attacks. The Senior Security Engineer is responsible for planning, implementing, deploying, and maintaining security solutions to ensure the stability and security of OPPD's infrastructure for both Corporate and OT environments. They will have extensive knowledge and broad functional experience with all NIST domains across a wide range of complex architectures, platforms and mediums. This position will help in the secure deployment of server, cloud and network systems along with the administration of these systems in a mission-critical, 24/7 environment. This work demands initiative, analytical skills, and technical expertise while working to maintain and broaden professional expertise through approved training, collaboration with peers, and attendance at professional meetings/conferences.
Architecture:
-Provide expert guidance for addressing current security issues and emerging threats.-Foresight to see industry trends and proactively deliver optimal secure solutions. The architect is expected to think like an adversary and identify how solutions should evolve as the threat landscape changes.-Align standards, frameworks and security with overall business and technology strategy.
Technology Design and Integration:
-Design, build and implement enterprise-class security systems including documentation and operational handoffs-Identify security design gaps in existing and proposed architectures while recommending changes or enhancements.-Explain technical topics to those without a technical background as the enterprise security subject matter expert.
Project Delivery
-As part of a project team, execute security tasks and activities related to new and existing projects with technologies based on the OPPD security roadmap.-Consult with IT projects to provide guidance on security architecture and security requirements to ensure that project-related risks are addressed.
Solutions
-Create solutions balancing business requirements with information and security requirements.-Design, evaluate, and implement security solutions to mitigate OPPD future threats.-Possess expert understanding of the NIST Cybersecurity Framework and it's applicability to the environment. Qualifications Required:
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
8-10 years of relevant experience
Technical expertise in multiple information security domains.
Comprehensive experience designing, implementing, operating & troubleshooting traditional & cloud-based security services
Designing and implementing security solutions while making improvements to those solutions.
Working with the relevant teams to accomplish security infrastructure goals.
Knowledge of continuous monitoring systems.
Consulting and engineering in the development and design of security best practices and implementation of solid security principles across the organization, to meet business goals along with customer and regulatory requirements.
Strong understanding of latest threat vectors such as data breaches, protocol weaknesses, account compromise techniques, malicious insiders, third parties compromise, APTs, and network attacks.
Strong understanding of National/International regulations and standards such as NIST, ISO27001, SOX, GDPR etc.
One or more information security certifications (ISC2, ISACA, SANS, AWS, Azure, EC-Council, etc.)
Excellent communication, documentation, & presentation skills.
Experience presenting & communicating to deeply technical teams, and also to senior management or executives.

Experience executing projects in lead capacity.
Must be able to gain NERC and nuclear unescorted access as needed and support vulnerability and account management programs in the following compliance areas (NERC, NRC (NEI 08-09), PCI).
Security Operations Center design and implementation experience.
