We are looking for in-home caregivers for my brother, Tom, who sustained an anoxic brain injury 12 years ago and lives in Omaha with my parents. He is dependent for daily activities and needs 24 hour care. You are contracted through the state but will work for my brother in his home.
Tom is very sweet and awesome to hang out with. He doesn't talk very much but he sure can make you laugh! He drives an electric wheelchair (with a lot of assistance) and uses a sit to stand lift for mobility around the house. Tom needs assistance with getting in/out of bed, showering, brushing teeth, dressing, going to the bathroom, and all other daily needs. Even though he is dependent he is not hard to care for and is VERY easy going. It is not all work! We like to take Tom to movies, concerts, Creighton games, out for dinner, on walks, and lots of other fun stuff!
The hours work in 3 shifts a day. Currently, due to COVID closing the workshop he attended 2 times a week we have adjusted the hours to: 8-12:30, 12:30-5:30, and 5:30-10:30 every day of the week. This could change if he starts going back to his workshop a few times a week.
My mom can be flexible with shifts but we are definitely in need of some help. In order to work with Tom you MUST have your CPR certification, have reliable transportation, and you must be able to work at least one weekend shift a week. Caregivers must also assist with cleaning and maintaining of Tom's areas and equipment. Please contact me via e-mail or cell phone if interested. Only serious inquiries please!
