Job Description
The position of Railcar Cleaner is responsible for all aspects of car cleaning and the inspection, care and maintenance of equipment used in the cleaning process. The person must be able to make safe confined space entries wearing movement and sight restricting personal protective equipment with limited lighting to clean the interior of tank and hopper cars in compliance with Tactical Cleaning policies and procedures. Inspect clean railcar interiors for compliance with customer, FRA, AAR and Tactical Cleaning requirements and complete cleaning checklists as required. Ensure all company guidelines are met and all safety rules are followed when performing duties. This position may be required to travel to and from either mobile or other fixed job sites.
Education and/or Experience Requirements
High school education or general education (GED) is preferred.
A minimum of 1 year of proven successful experience in a freight car/tank car experience is preferred; a combination of education and experience is required. Experience working with heavy construction, cleaning, and/or repair equipment will be considered.
Working Conditions
While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to loud noise, moving machinery parts, outdoor weather conditions and elements, airborne particles and fumes from gas, oil, and grease, welding arcs: and/or frequently exposed burns.
Frequent lifting of railroad parts and other materials, equipment, and tools. The incumbent must be able to do any of the following for long periods of time: Sitting, Standing, Climbing, Walking, Lifting, Pulling, Crouching, and Crawling.
