Tahoe Cross-Country is seeking a Junior Development Team (Devo) Coach, responsible for coaching Nordic ski athletes ages 11-18 and developing Nordic ski skills through physical training and technical development. The Devo Team operates year-round in Tahoe City, CA, with Nordic ski training in winter and dryland training in summer, plus some travel. The Devo Team Coach is a currently a part-time position, with room to grow, and is responsible for implementing the fun-meter, ensuring safety, managing schedules and training programs, and overseeing program development.
Essential duties include:
- Coaching 11- to 18-year-old Nordic ski athletes with on-snow and dry-land training sessions
- Developing consistency for year-round programming
- Fostering positive, inclusive, and cohesive environment for athletes, staff, parents and coaches
- Encouraging a lifelong love for healthy lifestyles, the sport of Nordic skiing, and being outdoors
- Attending Nordic ski competitions with athletes (travel may be required)
- Clear communication with athletes, parents and staff
- Social media marketing (working with Marketing Team)
- Implementing age-appropriate, sports-related activities including
o Weekly workouts
o Technical training
o Fitness training
o Ski waxing techniques
o Goal setting
o Nutrition
o Equipment selection
o Competition planning
Schedule:
- Average 15 hours/week
- 11 months out of the year
