Alpen Sierra Coffee Company, an established specialty roaster with 35 years of continuous growth and craftsmanship, is seeking a skilled and motivated Coffee Roasting Technician to join our production team. This position plays an essential role in executing daily roasting operations, maintaining quality standards, and supporting the creation of premium specialty coffees.

Primary Responsibilities
Roasting & Quality Control
Perform, update, and maintain roast quality standards and specifications according to Alpen Sierra’s QA systems.
Execute daily roast production with consistency and accuracy.
Monitor and evaluate roasting parameters to ensure quality and batch consistency.
Oversee cold brew extraction, and packaging.
Equipment Operation & Maintenance
Oversee and perform daily and periodic maintenance on roasting and related production equipment.
Identify areas of improvement and assist in implementing solutions to enhance performance and cost efficiency.
Maintain clean, safe, and organized workspaces.
Documentation & Workflow
Maintain accurate and consistent roast logs and maintenance logs.
Follow established procedures to ensure efficient and consistent production flow.
Perform record logging and tracking of USDA NOP operational requirements.
Green Coffee & Inventory Support
Work in coordination with the green coffee buyer to ensure timely and adequate supply of raw coffee for production needs.
Assist with receiving, staging, and organizing green coffee.
Product Development Support
Assist with blend formulation, cuppings, and the sourcing and evaluation of new coffees.
Participate in quality control monitoring to ensure ongoing product consistency.
Team Support & Training
Support training and performance onboarding for secondary roasting assistants.
Communicate effectively with team members to ensure smooth daily operations.
Qualifications
Previous commercial roasting experience preferred; mechanical aptitude required.
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow precise standards and procedures.
Understanding of roast theory, or strong interest in learning.
Ability to troubleshoot equipment and perform basic maintenance.
Must be able to lift 60+ lbs and stand for extended periods.
Dependable, punctual, and team-oriented.
Strong communication and organizational skills.
