Native Landscapes in Truckee, CA seeks a highly motivated and experienced Landscape Maintenance Supervisor. The ideal candidate has a minimum of 7 to 10 years working experience and will be responsible for supervising landscape crews and work performance to ensure high-quality landscape service. This position will supervise workloads and perform work as needed onsite. This role reports to the Owner/Operations Manager, coordinates with office staff and requires strong leadership skills, technological and organizational abilities and a commitment to safety and excellence. The job includes tracking expenses and time for accurate record keeping.
The Landscape season runs from April thru November with a shift to Snow Removal work from December to April.
Key Responsibilities:
General
Supervise and coordinate landscape maintenance crews.
Develop and implement seasonal maintenance schedules.
Train, mentor, and evaluate team members to enhance productivity and quality of work.
Operate and maintain landscape equipment, tools, trucks and trailers.
Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
Work with the business office staff to maintain accurate records of work completed, equipment usage, expenses and material inventory.
Coordinate with clients, property managers, and vendors to ensure excellent service.
Address and resolve any landscape or property concerns in a timely manner.
Apr November - F/T Seasonal
Oversee the maintenance and upkeep of all landscape needs including lawns, trees, shrubs, flower beds, irrigation systems, and hardscape features.
Dec Mar - P/T Seasonal
Ensure timely and efficient snow removal operations; including shoveling, snowblowing and de-icing. Roof inspection and snow load evaluation with a focus on ice dams and reporting to staff and clients to recommend appropriate action.
Monitor weather conditions and adjust snow removal strategies accordingly.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; relevant certifications in landscape installation and/or years of experience.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in landscape, grounds maintenance or applicable construction experience.
At least 2 years of supervisory or management experience.
Knowledge of horticultural techniques, turf management, pruning trees, irrigation systems & repairs, and snow removal techniques.
Ability to operate and maintain landscape equipment. Small engines, trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment (excavator and skid steer are a plus).
Technical ability to use computers, mobile phones, customer service applications and navigate communication platforms. Ie Jobber and Slack.
Strong organizational, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; CDL a plus.
Ability to work in various weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks.
The ability to use communication strategies to work with non-english speaking employees. Bilingual Spanish is a plus
Work Environment & Expectations: Full-time for 8 months of the year and possible part time contract for winter Snow Removal.
Position involves frequent bending, moving, lifting and carrying material weighing more than 50 pounds, standing up to eight hours a day, working in all weather conditions, exposure to high noise levels that require wearing hearing and eye protection for flying materials, occasional use of force to move heavy objects, digging in rocky soil and physical dexterity to operate equipment and perform manual landscape labor.
Ability to pick up and carry heavy weight up to 80 pounds and work long hours are required.
Early morning, late evening, and weekends may be required depending on workload.
Compensation & Benefits:
Hourly range from $30-38/hr; Salary based on experience & skill.
Three paid holidays per year
Accrued sick pay at 1 hr to every 30 hrs worked up to 40 hours per year.
