Temporary Laborer (short-term project)
Schedule: This is a temporary full-time position that will last 3 weeks that may be extended to 4 weeks.
Compensation: Hourly, non-exempt position pays $20/hour.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Lake Tahoe Wildlife Care (LTWC) is seeking two (2) Temporary Laborers to assist in completing critical short-term projects. This position is ideal for candidates looking to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced work environment.
WHO WE ARE:
Lake Tahoe Wildlife Care, Inc. (LTWC) is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization whose mission is to rescue, rehabilitate and release orphaned and injured wild birds and mammals. LTWC operates under permits issued by California Fish & Wildlife and the United States Department of the Interior Fish & Wildlife Service. Our 27-acre location includes multiple wildlife enclosures and a new multi-purpose administration and animal care hospital building.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Assist in the completion of facility repairs and enhancements, including basic carpentry, site clean-up, etc.
Follow and implement safety protocols while working on various manual labor tasks.
Support team members in completing the project's tasks efficiently and on schedule.
Transport materials and tools to and from the worksite, and assist with any other project-related duties as assigned.
Ability to follow detailed instructions and maintain a positive attitude while working as part of a team
Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and tasks throughout the project
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES:
Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic
Ability to work in varying outdoor conditions and follow instructions as part of a team
Ability to operate power tools safely and effectively
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Prior experience in general labor or construction preferred, but not required
Experience working with construction tools or equipment is a plus
PHYSICAL QUALIFICATIONS
The physical demands described here represent those that must be met by an employee to perform the essential functions of this job successfully. While performing the duties of this job, the employee must have the physical ability to:
Perform manual labor for extended periods, including standing, bending, stooping, and lifting
Walk and/or stand on your feet throughout a normal active workday
Engage in repetitive motions of legs, arms, and hands to hear and to see
Lift and move animals or inanimate objects up to 50 pounds
Withstand dust, dirt, and other environmental conditions associated with construction sites and working around animals
