Overview:
Carlson & Work is seeking a motivated and experienced paralegal to join our dynamic legal team. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in family law (40%), criminal law (30%), and managing the expansion and growth of our personal injury practice (30%). The ideal candidate should possess strong experience in drafting legal documents, managing case files, and navigating court filing systems. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute directly to the success and expansion of the firm's personal injury division, with financial incentives tied to its growth.
Key Responsibilities:
Family Law (40%)
- Assist attorneys in divorce, custody, and visitation cases.
- Draft legal documents such as petitions, motions, orders, and agreements.
- Coordinate discovery, gather case evidence, and manage client communications.
- File and serve legal documents via the court's electronic filing system.
- Organize and maintain client files, ensuring deadlines are met.
Criminal Law (30%)
- Support attorneys in pre-trial and trial preparation.
- Draft pleadings, subpoenas, and motions.
- Organize discovery documents and maintain case files.
- Assist with court filings, both electronic and in-person.
- Communicate with clients, court personnel, and opposing counsel as needed.
Personal Injury (30%)
- Manage intake, case evaluation, and client communications for personal injury matters.
- Draft demand letters, motions, and other legal documents.
- Coordinate with attorneys on litigation strategies.
- Assist with settlement negotiations, mediation, and trial preparation.
- Oversee the growth of the personal injury division, including business development tasks, marketing coordination, and case management.
- Compensation tied to the division’s growth and new client acquisition.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 2-3 years of paralegal experience in family law, criminal law, and/or personal injury.
- Proficient in legal drafting, discovery, and court filing systems (e-filing experience is essential).
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with personal injury case management and business development.
- Familiarity with court procedures and local legal systems.
