Responsibilities in Blind Services include providing support, guidance, and counseling services to individuals who are blind or visually impaired. The aim is to assist clients in overcoming challenges related to their visual impairment and help them become independent and gain employment. This role involves assessing clients' needs, developing rehabilitation plans, and collaborating with other professionals to ensure holistic support. Rehabilitation Counselors who work with a transition caseload will serve students and young adults. Duties include meeting with clients; completing intakes; determining eligibility; providing vocational counseling, guidance, and advocacy; assessing vocational rehabilitation needs; completing Individualized Plans for Employment; and coordinating and providing services focused on assisting our clients with securing employment. Other positions will work with a specialty caseload that consists of individuals with a primary diagnosis of ID/DD, which may include Mental Health diagnoses and/or Physical Disabilities. This position requires knowledge and experience providing supported employment and customized employment services for Individuals with the most significant disabilities. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of WIOA and how it applies to providing services for Individuals with significant disabilities based on section 511 of the Rehabilitation Act and will be familiar with interagency collaboration and interdisciplinary teamwork.
