Mine Geologist (Underground)

Nevada Copper (TSX:NCU) is a copper producer and owner of the Pumpkin Hollow copper project. Located in Nevada, USA, Pumpkin Hollow has substantial reserves and resources including copper, gold, and silver. Its two fully permitted projects include the high-grade underground mine and processing facility, which is now in the production stage, and a large-scale open pit project, which is advancing towards feasibility status. Purpose of the Position: The Mine Geologist (Underground) is responsible for day-to-day underground ore control and mapping activities, assisting with underground drilling programs, and core logging. Works with the Geology Team to advance projects, support the geology data collection and provide technical support to operations and advanced projects. Accountability: The Mine Geologist (Underground) reports to the Chief Geologist. Responsibilities and Duties:

Daily underground ore control and reporting

Underground mapping and collection of geological and geotechnical information

Routine supervision of drilling activities

Geologic and geotechnical data collection from drill core

Assist in updating geological interpretations

Responsible for maintaining and collating face maps, grade reports, and underground hydrologic data

Assist with geological studies

Assist with grade reconciliation program

Other tasks as required in support of company objectives

Knowledge/ Education:

The incumbent must have proficient knowledge in the following areas:

Bachelor of Science Degree in Geology

2-5 years total professional experience in the mining industry

Minimum of one (1) year experience in underground hard rock mining

Experience with logging diamond drill core

Familiarity with mineralized systems, rock alteration, geologic and structural mapping

Experience in skarn and base metals systems preferred

Strong understanding of mining operations and drill techniques

Capable of utilizing latest computer & software technologies such as Microsoft office products, CAD software, and mining programs such as Vulcan, Leapfrog, MineSite, Deswik or Datamine

Physical Demands:

The incumbent must demonstrate the following physical demands:

Lift and potentially carry up to 50 lbs.

Operate a vehicle with a valid driver’s license

Climb stairwells and be capable of working on elevated platforms

Walk on uneven and poorly lit ground

Periodically work in adverse weather conditions

Sit for extended periods of time

Stay alert during periods of inactivity

The ability to bend, stretch, twist, or reach with your body, arms, and/or legs.

The ability to make fast, simple, repeated movements of the fingers, hand, and wrists

Work Schedule and Personal Protective Equipment:

The incumbent works a minimum 40 hour/week schedule in support of department objectives Position may require weekend or evening work depending on organizational and operational requirements. Personal Protective Equipment required for the field work portion of this position includes, but is not limited to, hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel-toed boots. All equipment must be MSHA approved as applicable.
