The Batch and Furnace Operator controls, monitors, and adjusts the feeding and firing of two furnaces.  They are responsible for batch handling and mixing equipment, and automatic furnace control equipment.   They will unload and store raw materials, inspect unloading equipment and participate in physical inventory of batch materials.    The Batch and Furnace Operator will:Maintains glass levels and temperatures in all furnacesOperates variable controls requiring precise and frequent adjustment.Checks furnace to determine faulty operation conditions such as hot spots, dirty burners, clogged checkers and furnace leaksMakes minor adjustment and repairs as requiredWorks out unloading schedule and directs placement of rail carsOperate automatic unloading system to unload raw materialsThe Batch and Furnace Operator should have:The ability to keep log of Batch and Furnace operations, noting required statistics in log book and log sheetsThe ability to check recording forms on instrumentsSkills to perform housekeeping duties on charging floorAbility to work outside in all seasons
