Job Summary

Performs unskilled and semi-skilled tasks involving the seasonal maintenance of a variety of areas including grounds, facilities and buildings.

Supervision Received

Works under the direct and general supervision of the Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent.

Supervision Exercised

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Examples of Duties

(The listed examples are illustrative only and may not include all duties found in this position.)

1. Performs a variety of routine tasks for the maintenance, care and upkeep of grounds, buildings and facilities.

2. Mows, waters and repairs Turf; trims trees and shrubs, removes weeds as appropriate.

3. Assists with projects including but not limited to, aeration, topdressing and bunker edging.

4. May be trained on a variety of maintenance equipment and tools throughout employment.

5. Inspects all areas of the Golf Course for safety issues. Reports all problems to the Superintendent or Assistant.

6. Stays attentive to turf conditions and reports any turf stress or related turf issues to the Superintendent or Assistant

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

Knowledge of the principles and methods of turf and grounds maintenance. Knowledge of the tools and materials used in the maintenance and construction of golf courses and landscaping.

Minimum Qualifications Required

Graduation from high school or technical school preferred and some grounds training. Valid New Hampshire operator's license; one to two years extensive grounds maintenance experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience which demonstrates possession of the required knowledge skills and abilities.

Working Conditions

Employee is often required to do several tasks expeditiously and concurrently. Work is often interrupted by telephone call, inquiries from co-workers and customers. Interactions with customers require courtesy and tact.

Tools and Equipment Used

Motorized equipment, including mowers, edgers, pruners, power sweeper, dump truck, pickup truck, utility truck, loader, backhoe, tractor, saws, pumps, compressors, sanders, generators, common hand and power tools, shovels, wrenches, mobile radio, phone.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to stand and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk, sit, climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and smell.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in outside weather conditions. The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and vibration. The employee occasionally works in precarious places and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock.

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Sensory Requirements

For communicating with others, talking is required; for taking instructions from others, hearing is required; and for doing the job effectively and correctly, sight is required.
