We’re seeking an experienced PLC troubleshooter to assist on an as-needed basis when critical issues arise. This is not a full-time or regular part-time position but rather a consulting role for addressing complex troubleshooting scenarios.
Our machine processes timber frames for houses and other structures, performing tasks like routing mortises, shoulders, and drilling holes for pegs. It has been in operation for over four decades and utilizes a well-established, mature control system.
Key Details:
- Current System: Automation Direct PLC system, upgraded through several iterations from Modicon and TI.
- Control System: Includes one encoder and a high-speed counter (HSCTR), with no analog inputs.
- GUI: A custom VB6 application, not CNC-based.
- Operating Systems: Evolved through Windows 95, 98, 7.2, and currently Windows 11.
- Support: The original design engineer, who implemented these systems, will be available to help you get familiarized with the controls and the overall structure.
Requirements:
- Proven experience troubleshooting PLC systems, particularly in high-pressure situations.
- Familiarity with legacy systems and tools, including VB6 applications and older control platforms, is a plus.
- Availability for occasional on-call consulting when issues arise.
