The successful candidate will provide database management, design, troubleshooting and configuration of database systems. The contractor will plan, coordinate and implement security measures to safeguard information in computer files against accidental or unauthorized damage, modification or disclosure. The contractor will modify existing databases and database management systems in accordance to policy and procedures created to optimize and secure data. The contractor will test programs or databases, correct errors and make necessary modifications and develop methods for integrating different products so they work properly together, such as customizing commercial databases to fit specific needs.

Work will be performed at designations within the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, Portsmouth, NH.

Duties: The successful candidate will, at a minimum, perform the following functions in support of the task for Oracle, SQL and MS Access enterprise solutions database:

• Improve effectiveness of the database tools and services.
• Monitor and report status of nightly database backups, and test and validate database restorations as required.
• Document incidents using the tracking system.
• Monitor and report database performance daily.
• Create new databases as required, instances, and connections to support customer request.
• Troubleshoot performance issues with databases to include scheduled tasks such as MS Access compact and repair. Work with System Administrators on required corrective actions.
• Secure databases by following policies, procedures and controls and ensure all the data complies with DoD regulations.
• Accomplish platform upgrades and improvements.
• Perform System Administration tasks (Managing; Users, Groups, Roles and Access Permissions.)
• Ensure data is accessible, available and secure from unauthorized access.
• Maintain existing and when required create new WPs in support of this task.
• Perform database level changes, database design, and business process analysis to migrate data and/or media, including structured and unstructured data, by using provided software tools to convert information from one medium to another ensuring data accessibility and authenticity.
• Provide CMMI Level 3 Management Plans. Update existing Capability Maturity Model Integration CMMI Level 3 documentation, GFI 13.2.19 – 13.2.27, to incorporate contractor’s processes. Provide schedules, audit materials, training decks and CMMI Facilitation in accordance with GFI 13.2.35.
• Due to the 24/7 availability requirements of Information Systems in support of Navy Enterprise customers across the globe, emergent response outside of normal working hours may be required by personnel to ensure continued operations. Response outside of normal working hours is unlikely, but possible. Hours spent outside of the normal working hours will be swapped for normal hours
• Deliver major version upgrades for COTS versions of Oracle and SQL as requested.

Education: CompTIA Sec+ and Oracle 12c/or greater or a 4-yr degree in Information Systems field
Experience: 3-7 years in a computer science or a related field
