Applications will be accepted up to 90 days after the posting date, or until the position is filled (whichever is first).Job Summary:As a member of the Vail Resorts Finance organization, the Accounting team is committed to Building Leaders and Driving Value. The Manager is a crucial resource providing leadership support for all aspects of company inventory. This leadership role partners with IT, field operations, financial analysts, and 3rd party vendors to provide a seamless guest experience. This individual will support the Sr. Accounting Manager in overseeing the work of the Vail Resorts inventory accounting department from an operational and monthly close management perspective. This position ensures a timely and accurate close each month. Responsibilities include journal entry preparation and review, account reconciliation and analysis, compliance with SOX requirements and ability to assist with SOX walk-throughs. This position will lead a team of four that ensures all company inventories are accurate and accounted for timely. Special projects and additional ad hoc reporting and analysis as requested. Other responsibilities include overseeing annual retail physical inventories. This job requires the ability to meet deadlines, keen attention to detail, act as an agent of change and process improvement minded, enthusiastic team player with a can-do attitude, strong work ethic, with the ability to periodically work late and on weekends as needed.Job Responsibilities:

Provide leadership to the inventory accounting team which oversees $60M-$100M in inventory at any given time across our US and Canadian operations

Oversite includes but is not limited to: Retail, F&B, Media, Fuel, and Maintenance inventories.

Drive continuous improvement efforts for the inventory accounting team to enhance scalability of processes

Publish KPI metrics and detailed analytics to provide planning and performance insight

Provide subject matter expert guidance for integration of mergers and acquisitions, implementation of new systems and ad-hoc projects

Coach and develop a high performing team

Journal entry preparation and review

Account reconciliation and analysis

Project work including implementation and upgrades of financial systems and other support

Lead user acceptance and regression testing efforts for system upgrades and integrations in regards to our inventory systems.

Produce inventory specific analyses to evaluate performance, aid in decision making, and provide insight into the business.

Execute value-add analysis and decision support for new projects and initiatives.

Ensure SOX compliance with assigned responsibilities, including maintaining and updating documentation.

Identify bottlenecks and drive process improvements aimed at creating scalability and efficiencies across the inventory processes.

Strong curiosity in pursuing solutions to resolve sophisticated problems across both internal and external parties.

Develop leadership skills in others by coaching, mentoring, knowledge sharing and reinforcing best practices.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Accounting or Finance.

Minimum 4 years accounting experience required

High volume inventory experience a plus

Experience in developing high performing teams

Efficient MS Office skills

Ability to quickly become a Subject Matter Expert with IT systems

Ability to prioritize tasks, adapt quickly to changing business needs

Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of business stakeholders

The ideal candidate will possess strong accounting/finance knowledge, communication skills, problem-solving abilities, systems skills and a proven understanding of the month end close cycle.

This individual must be a self-starter with a drive for excellence, able to build strong working relationships throughout the organization and a proven ability to be a leader in a dynamic and changing environment. Must be able to handle a fast paced, high stress environment.

Knowledge of PeopleSoft Financials system, Merchandise Management System (MMS), Coupa, and OnBase experience (Preferred)

The expected Total Compensation for this role is $76,841 - $96,465 + annual bonus. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.Job Benefits
