POSITION DESCRIPTION: Providing small classroom instruction, as well as private tutoring, in a variety of subjects to children ranging from Middle School to high school and assist in grading students work. Part Time position . Expected to work 2 days a week from Tuesdays to Fridays (4.30 pm to 7.30 pm) and/or Saturdays (10 am to 3 pm)
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Plan, prepare, and deliver instructional activities that facilitate learning; lesson plans are provided; prepare materials and classroom for activities; provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities; manage student behavior in classroom and apply disciplinary methods as appropriate; observe and evaluate student performance and development; instruct and monitor students in the use and care of equipment and materials to prevent injury and damage; provide appropriate feedback to students and parents on progress.
Required Education: College Freshmen and above, must have 3.4 GPA or better.
Experience: One year in the position of Teacher OR at least one year of experience providing instruction in a group setting.
Abilities: Ability to teach multiple subjects for Kindergarten through middle school as assigned, be sensitive to diversity within classroom, respect various cultural and socioeconomic differences, adapt to learning styles of students, train and mentor staff effectively and provide on-going support and coaching to staff as a mentor.
Skills: Must possess effective oral and written communication, handle sensitive situations with tact and diplomacy and provide a positive environment to facilitate learning.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Physical Demands: Frequent standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching and using arms, hands and fingers to write and to deliver lessons; carrying objects weighing up to 10 pounds; completing feedback for students and parents; speech communication and hearing to maintain communication with students, parents and employees.
Work Environment: Classroom with a moderate noise level.
