Roles and Responsibilities:

• Achieves network design and operational objectives by designing and engineering, evaluating, recommending, formulating, testing and implementing plans for current and new technology;
• Contributing to strategic plans and reviews; preparing and completing action plans; designing cost-effective networks which follow NJT and industry best practices
• Resolving Network issues; completing audits; identifying trends; determining system improvements; implementing change.
• Hands-on Knowledge on the following Extreme/Cisco platforms/technologies required
• Network Services LAN, WAN, Aruba Wireless (802.1X), Satellite Link TCP/IP, Extreme Routers and Switches ERS VSP 9000, 7000, 4000 series,
• Cisco Routers-Switches, 6513, 4510, 2911, Nexus 7k's , ASR 1001 and 2960;
• Multicast Knowledge required
• Responsible for contributing to the New Jersey Transits network roadmap
• Develop schedules and work plans for newly planned and/or upgraded network locations
• Provide 3rd level Network support and be the subject matter expert for high-level network issue resolution
• Meets IT operations financial objectives by forecasting requirements; assist the manager in preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.
• Determines IT operations service requirements by analyzing needs of users/departments; prioritizing modifications to core network; developing and implementing documentation requirements for the network.
• Perform capacity planning, analysis, and reporting.
• Provides information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends in new technologies for WAN, LAN, security, capacity, and response time optimization.
• Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
• Accomplishes the network strategies and organization mission by completing related tasks as needed.
• Project management and documentation are key responsibilities for this position

• Bachelor's Degree required
• Experience in Network Maintenance, Network Design and Implementation, Building Relationships, Resolving Conflict, Project Management, assisting in Developing Budgets, Promoting Process Improvement, Network Systems, and Network Hardware Configuration. Extreme network experience
