What You Will DoAn exciting and challenging opportunity to lead a team of IT professionals with the mission of securing and managing laptops, desktops, and servers across the entire LANL enterprise. As a first-line manager, you will get the opportunity to blend technology skills, organizational skills, and people skills while engaging with high profile enterprise scale services and projects. You will join a team of highly skilled professionals that manage a variety of enterprise-scale endpoint management services with great opportunities for growth and collaboration. The team is responsible for researching, testing, developing, deploying, and operating enterprise-scale host management configurations, tools, and services. The team also plays a key role in supporting continuous diagnostics and mitigation efforts, Enterprise Governance, Risk, and Compliance services, metrics reporting, systems inventory collection, data call response, tier 3+ support, vendor technical interface, corrective action plan development and execution. You will work in the Network and Infrastructure Engineering Division supporting a computing environment scaling from “desktop to teraflops,” a diverse and challenging network environment unavailable anywhere else.Work duties will include:Project and operations supervision and management

Working with stakeholders across the institution to improve services and solve problems

Managing, mentoring, and leading a team of 10-20 highly skilled technical professionals

Collaborating across management levels and organizational boundaries

Ensuring work gets completed safely and securely

What You NeedMinimum Job Requirements:Demonstrated capability in Information Technology solutions development from concept development to execution and delivery

Knowledge of software development issues, methodologies, tools, and processes

Experience with enterprise level services, operations requirements, change control processes and disaster recovery

Ability to work in unclassified and classified computing environments

Education/Experience: Position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field from an accredited institution and 3 years related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.Desired Qualifications:Expert level working knowledge of one or more of the following areas: Windows Systems Administration, Relational Database Administration, UNIX/Linux Systems Administration, Software Development.

Working understanding of Federal Information Security policy and guidance including NIST 800-53, FISMA, and FIPS 199

Practical experience working with endpoint security issues including but not limited to: policy development, vulnerability management, patch management, configuration management, firewall management, Center for Internet Security Critical Controls

Experience with data collection, analysis, and reporting

Demonstrated ability in leading and mentoring technical teams

Knowledge of and experience using various project management methodologies and techniques including waterfall, earned value management, rolling wave planning, agile, Kanban, etc.

Experience managing teams remotely

Desired Training/Certifications:Project Management Professional (PMP) or other project management certification

GIAC Security Essentials (GSEC)

CISSP

GIAC Certified Windows Security Administrator (GCWN)

GIAC Certified Unix Security Administrator (GCUX)

GIAC Continuous Monitoring Certification (GMON)

Location: This position will be part of the Laboratory’s Telework Pilot and may work from a remote/home location within a two-hour ground commute of the Laboratory. Employee participation in the Telework Pilot may be shortened or extended at the manager’s discretion.
