A childcare director is responsible for the day-to-day operations of a childcare center or daycare, including:
Staff management: Hiring, training, and supervising staff
Program development: Creating educational programs and standards, and overseeing curriculum implementation
Facility management: Ensuring the facility is clean and well-maintained, and complying with state and federal regulations
Budgeting: Preparing budgets, allocating funds, and tracking expenses
Communication: Communicating with parents and staff, and meeting with them to discuss students' progress
Customer service: Greeting parents and visitors, answering questions, and arranging meetings
Record keeping: Maintaining records for five years, and documenting attendance, absenteeism, and incidents
Marketing: Developing marketing or communications plans to drive enrollment
Qualifications:
-Bachelors degree including, or in addition to, 12 credits in Early Childhood, Child Development or related field and one year of full time teaching experience in a child day care center, family or group family day care home or other early childhood program and one year of experience supervision staff in a child care program or related field of work.
-OR New York State Children's Program administrator Credential and One year of full time teaching experience in a child day care center, family or group family day care home or early childhood program and one year of experience supervising staff in a child care program or related field of work.
-OR Associated degree in Early Childhood or related field with a plan of study leading to a Bachelors degree or a New York State Children's Program Administrator Credential and two years of full time teaching experience in a child day care center, family or group family day care home, or other early childhood program and two years of experience supervising staff in a child care program ore related field of work.
-OR Child Development Associate Credential or other Office recognized credential with a plan of study leading to a Bachelors degree or a New York State Children's program Administrator Credential and two years of full time teaching experiences in a child day care center, family or group family day care home or other early childhood program and two years of experience supervising staff in a child care program or related field of work.
