Bridge to Enter Advanced Mathematics, a project of the Art of Problem Solving Initiative, Inc., is seeking a Registered Nurse (preferred) or Licensed Practical Nurse as live-in health director for a program that gives everyone a chance to excel in mathematics. We are a free summer math program for underserved NYC middle school students who want to get access to more challenging math and have a great summer. The program will take place at Union College in summer 2019 and is a 3-week program with around 40 students.

This job is ideal for someone who wants to relax this summer and loves kids. We are required to have a health professional on-call on-campus during the program, but while on-call you are free to do as you wish, giving you plenty of time to study, read, work on a project, or anything else you can do from campus. You're also welcome to join in our activities and bond with campers! Since we are an academic camp, we expect active responsibilities to take less than 5 hours a day, and you'll also have 8 hours a week off to leave campus while a part-time substitute joins us.

Job responsibilities include:

- Review student medical records before the summer. Verify that immunizations are up-to-date and advise the Site Director of any medical conditions that require special attention.

- Attend staff training before the summer to learn procedures and give basic advice to staff for responding to medical issues (July 5 or 6).

- Meet each student as they arrive at the program site and collect any medications they brought with them.

- Live on campus and be on call during July 7-July 28, with flexible time off that can be arranged ahead of time.

- Coordinate with another medical staff member, who will be on-site during your time off.

- Supervise the return of medications to students at the conclusion of the summer.

We are a small program (just 40 students) with a very close-knit community of students discovering that they love math for the first time. In past years, the role has been very relaxed because the program is so small, and so you would have plenty of time to yourself or to join in on program activities and meet the students socially. You're welcome at all camp activities, and we hope you will see this as an opportunity to become part of this community as well.

In addition to a salary ($3000 for an LPN or $4000 for an RN), you will be given a room and all meals on the campus of Union College July 6-July 28 (with flexibility moving in earlier or out later).

To apply, please submit your resumé and cover letter to our email. Must be certified as an RN or LPN in the state of New York. You are also welcome to contact us for more information or visit our website: beammath.org/work-at-beam
