We are a small custom build firm that specializes in high quality, sustainable residential construction. Renovations and new construction. Job sites can be in the heart of the capital region, or up to 1hr 15minute drive away from Troy at maximum.
We are seeking to expand our team with smart, hard working people, that will be a positive contribution. We can use both entry level carpenters/laborers, and those with years of experience. A good personality and being a team player is important to us and our clients.
Upcoming jobs include a gut renovation of a wood framed house in Troy, and next year the new construction of a highly sustainable home insulated with straw bale panels and finished with earthen plasters. We also take on smaller jobs such as new decks, window and door replacement, etc. Familiarity and experience with natural building methods is a plus but not a requirement.
Basic skills for the entry level applicants are:
At least 1 year working as a carpenter's helper or labor in a related field.
Familiarity with tools and their safe use. Ability to take measurements and accurately cut material.
Ability to listen to instruction and carry out work duties safely and quickly.
Drive to job site and arrive on time.
Work steadily and attentively without frequent smoke breaks or checking phone.
Non entry level carpenters will have years of experience in most areas of residential construction. After an initial training period, carpenters will be asked to work independently of direct supervision.
