Aero Conditioner Company, LLC is a growing manufacturer of industrial air-conditioners and related equipment that moved to a larger plant located in Selkirk, NY. We are seeking an experienced TiG welder and fabricator.
We design and manufacture air conditioners and other HVAC equipment used around the world, mostly in industrial and military applications. One of our key lines is our multi-patented Air Cleaning Blowers™ (ACBs), the most sustainable air-filtration system made because they blow and clean air without using any filter media that clogs and requires maintenance.
The welding work is precise and delicate, so we require a minimum of three years documented TiG welding experience. Sheet-metal fabrication experience is a plus. Must be comfortable with preparing and fitting parts to custom tolerances and with following company's operating procedures and shop orders.
Job Types: Full-time or part-time (ideal for semi-retired persons)
Job Duties:
TiG welding, particularly attaching parts to sheet metal (10 to 22 gauge)—mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminum—to meet tolerances (often 0.001")
Design and build own jigs to support work for squaring and clamping prior to welding
Measure, mill, grind, and square parts using stationery and hand tools, and then assemble by welding parts together
Read, understand, and follow job order specifications, engineering drawings, and/or work orders.
Work from shop drawings to prepare, frame, and weld stainless-steel and aluminum sheet-metal products without warping
Operate forklifts, hoists, hand power tools, grinders, cutting torch, and other hand tools related to the job’s needs.
Clean, polish and finish work to assure that it has high-quality appearance
Work within all safety guidelines
Perform daily maintenance on welding equipment and work area
Keep work area clean and organized
Personal Qualifications:
3+ years in TiG welding experience to close tolerances and without warping, particularly when building frames for equipment and affixing parts onto sheet metal (10 to 22 gauge), mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminum (we will test you)
3 years of experience in metal-product fabrication (not just machine shop or repair shop)
Proven ability to design and build own jigs to support work for squaring and clamping prior to welding
Must be able to communicate clearly (verbally and electronically) with shop staff, supervisors, and managers
Ability to identify areas for improving quality and productivity in metal fabrication
Willingness to cross-train and perform the work of other job tasks in addition to the primary assigned position.
Experience with sheet-metal forming equipment, particularly power shear and press brake, a plus
Must work well under limited supervision
Must work well with and willingly assist others
Must be able to lift 50 pounds
Well organized, self-disciplined and safety conscious
Salary: $20.00 - $26.00 per hour
