Location: Binghamton, NY Category: Faculty Posted On: Thu Nov 14 2024 Job Description: The Department of Human Development in the College of Community and Public Affairs (CCPA) at Binghamton University invites applications for a full-time lecturer appointment with an expected start date of fall 2025. The initial appointment is for three years; the appointment is renewable. We welcome candidates who believe in a student-centered approach to teaching and who have a commitment to diversity, inclusiveness and an international focus with a human rights perspective. Specifically, we are looking for a feminist scholar and teacher whose work focuses on the global south and migration. Since the successful candidate will be teaching in a professional undergraduate/graduate program, significant international professional experience is preferred. The teaching load for this position is three courses each fall and spring semester.In addition to teaching, candidates would be asked to provide service to the department in one of more of the following areas:

Coordinate, oversee and grow the immigration studies minor.

Assist in curriculum, program or assessment development activities for undergraduate Human

Development Program and MS in Human Rights program

Attend department meetings and HDEV/MSHR committee meetings

Be available for service appointments, on academic and service committees

A Ph.D. in Human Development, Human Rights, Cultural Studies, Gender Studies, Sexuality Studies, or a related field is required.

An established record of effective teaching, with the expectation to teach undergraduate and graduate-level courses across various programs as needed.

Demonstrated ability to design and deliver courses using traditional classroom settings, as well as online and hybrid teaching methodologies.

Preferred:

Significant professional experience in the field of international development.
