Job Title: Canine Care Attendant - Part-time available. 24 hours a week (including weekends and Holidays) during the hours of 8am-5pm. Broad Function: The Canine Care Attendant is responsible for contributing to the sanitary maintenance of the Canine facilities and focusing on the health and welfare of animals in our care. The ideal candidate should be willing to cross train throughout different areas of the shelter including the feline and boarding area. Additional tasks may be required as needed.
Job Duties:
Enrich the lives of the dogs through walking and training dogs of all sizes varying from Chihuahua to Pit Bulls to German Shepherds.
Collaborate with volunteers who are assisting with the animals.
Clean cages & kennel. Sweep, mop, take out garbage and recycling, and assist with overall cleaning and sanitation of building.
Feed, medicate and provide water to animals. Socialize dogs.
Introduce dogs to potential adopters. Assist veterinary staff with animals as needed.
Qualifications Required:
High school graduate or GED Required.
Adapts easily to change and can work productively under pressure. Self-motivated, Team Player Handling up to 50 pounds.
Must provide own transportation.
Candidates are subject to a drug test.
Preferred Experience: Animal care experience in a shelter environment, working on a farm, animal care in a pet store, kennel or vet's office - willing to train the right applicant.
