The role of the Veterinary Assistant is responsible for the traditional duties of a veterinary technician which may include animal restraint, wound care, administration of treatments, assisting veterinarians with procedures, entering information into medical records, working under the direction of a veterinarian and Shelter Management, maintaining the facility in a clean and orderly manner. Process all incoming animals following the defined intake procedures.
Ensure follow-up vaccines, deworming, flea treatment are tracked and provided.
Document and provide necessary medical care/treatments following defined veterinary protocols.
Draw up prescribed medications and disseminate to appropriate staff for administration and proper tracking.
Monitor inventory to ensure we have an ample supply of frequently used items (vaccines, parasite control, etc.)
Document treatments thoroughly on the Medical Records.
Restrain animals for Veterinary Examination and work with Veterinarian to ensure information is documented thoroughly and completely.
Position requires:
1 year experience working in veterinary assistant role is desired.

Schedule:
Tuesday 1:00pm-6:00pm
Wednesday 8:00am-2:00pm
Thursday 2:00pm-5:00pm
Friday 8:00am-2:00pm
