Description: As a key contributor to the company and the management team, the Head Mechanic will handle large and small repairs, develop and control maintenance schedules, train and develop personnel, ensure safety protocols, order parts and maintain inventory.
Responsibilities:
Inspect, repair, fabricate, rebuild and maintain light and heavy duty equipment.
Perform mechanical repairs on heavy equipment such as trucks, loaders, bulldozers, and tractors.
Provide hands-on repairs and maintenance of vehicles.
Train and evaluate personnel in the use of shop equipment, and all phases of maintenance work, including; the operation of equipment, use of tools, and standard operating procedures of work.
Inspect equipment, analyze trouble and plan sequence of repair operations.
Perform bumping, painting, heating, drilling, bolting, welding (MIG, Stick, (TIG), brazing, sand blasting, soldering, and/or cutting operations.
Adjust or repair and replace parts in engines, transmissions, differentials, brakes and other equipment.
Adjust or repair hydraulic systems and components.
Maintain and instruct others on proper safety procedures.
Respond to repair requests.
Record daily work in Shop Floor system.
Perform road service on equipment as required.
Investigate complaints and equipment malfunctions.
Coordinate parts runs and maintain sufficient parts inventory.
Analyze performance of equipment.
Participate in the selection of equipment including the preparation of
specifications for purchase.
Wash and clean company equipment.
Recommend improved work methods and procedures.
Attend company meetings and present maintenance objectives.
Skills and Qualifications for employment:
Experience and considerable knowledge of the methods, materials and equipment used in the maintenance and repair of various types of heavy equipment and other power driven equipment and tools.
Working knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trade.
Skilled in the operation of a variety of tools and equipment used in the repair of trucks and heavy equipment.
Ability to prepare and maintain accurate records and reports.
Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
Ability to analyze and repair mechanical failures.
Ability to work effectively and establish good working relationships with other employees.
Must maintain a valid Driver's License.
Ability to multitask, prioritize and meet strict deadlines in a fast paced environment.
High energy, sense of urgency when appropriate, takes initiative, and have an ambitious work ethic.
Highly detail oriented.
Must be very reliable.
Excellent problem solving abilities.
Superior organizational and communication skills, both verbal and written.
Pass a background check and drug screen.
Be able to effectively maintain confidentiality, provide and receive constructive feedback.
