Description We are offering a contract to hire employment opportunity for a Sr. Accountant in Brooklyn, New York. This role primarily revolves around the financial industry, where you'll be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with GAAP standards, and leveraging information systems to facilitate better decision making.Responsibilities: Ensure adherence to GAAP standards and regulatory requirements. Support the timely month-end close for accounts receivable. Prepare and maintain journal entries, workpapers, accounting memos, and reconcile accounts. Utilize information systems to provide near real-time reporting to organizational leaders. Establish and maintain internal controls and safeguards for financial reporting, revenue receipt, and program budgets. Reconcile balance sheet accounts monthly and resolve reconciling items in a timely manner. Assist in annual financial audits. Monitor, coordinate, and prepare various accounting records and reports for regulatory and government agencies. Perform other duties assigned to enhance the efficiency of our financial operations.Skills: Proficient in Account Reconciliation, Balance Sheet Reconciliation, and Bank Reconciliations. Familiarity with General Ledger and Journal Entries. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Experience with Month End Close and Abila MIP. Requirements Candidate must possess strong skills in Account Reconciliation Proficiency in Balance Sheet Reconciliation is required Ability to conduct Bank Reconciliations accurately and efficiently Demonstrated knowledge of General Ledger management is necessary Experience in Journal Entries is expected Must be adept in using Microsoft Excel for accounting tasks Capable of handling Month End Close procedures effectively Familiarity with Abila MIP software is a plus Prior experience in a similar Senior Accountant role is desirable Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills are necessary Strong written and verbal communication skills are required Ability to work independently and as part of a team Must have a bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field Professional accounting certification such as CPA or CMA is highly preferred Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial regulations Must demonstrate high level of integrity and professionalism Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines Strong attention to detail and accuracy is a must Must have excellent organizational and planning skills.
